#BIGTALKSUNDAYS:

If money were no concern, how would you lead life differently?

Money, money, money, money!

I’m actually looking forward to addressing this question and looking forward to hearing what you all have to say.

If you know me well, then you know that I am obsessed with reading books of the “self-help”, motivational variety. Always in need of a good pep talk.

So, when I heard Jen Sincero was coming out with a new book and it dealt with “mastering the mindset of wealth”, I ┬ájust HAD to pick up You are a Badass at Making Money.

P.S. If you’re so ready to feel awesome about who you are and discover what unique badassery you have to offer this world, you NEED to check out You are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness & Start Living an Awesome Life. I’m enamored with Jen’s super relatable writing style. She just gets me!

I know its considered especially taboo to talk about money as a business owner, but I’m going to fess up and tell you guys that the whole topic┬áof money is a very stressful one for me (and I know it is for the majority of us)!

Sure, I love sharing all the successes and milestones of my entrepreneurial journey, but in my opinion, it’s equally as important for me to share some of the challenges that arise along the way.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel like this whole #girlboss movement is guilty of being totally romanticized?

Don’t get me wrong!

I’m all about us women following our passions, taking the reigns on our lives, creating a life we love and utilizing our gifts to offer┬ásomething wonderful to this world (and, I’m completely guilty of using the term & # on the daily), but, for most of us, its taken a lot of hard work, courage, determination, countless tears, stress, anxiety, questioning if you’re making the right moves…you catch my drift. Most of us have to really work for it. And, it takes a whole lotta moola (probably more than you initially think), to run your fabulous business (that you wouldn’t trade for the world)!

Okay. So back to money! (I could chat you ladies up ALL day┬á čśŤ )

I’ve recently become very aware of some unhealthy habits I’ve formed with money & my feeling undeserving of acquiring wealth (also, guilty of feeling undeserving when it comes to receiving ANYTHING from ANYONE) and very aware of where these feelings and habits have stemmed from. It can be incredibly crippling & exhausting.┬á

I’m only a chapter into YAABAMM (hahaha! I LOVE THIS) and let me tell you–the end of the chapter left me in TEARS because someone else was telling my story & this very someone was able to break the cycle and begin the process of leading the life he’d imagined for himself after discovering the source of his money woes and coming to the realization that he had work to do to release himself of these self-limiting beliefs.

I scoured my apartment for a notebook and began writing everything that was on my mind, which turned into a 2 hour journaling session where I got real with myself, laying out all of my underlying beliefs revolving around money.

After releasing myself of these heavy thoughts and emotions, I began to jot down all of the awesome things and experiences money will add to my life and how my financial wealth will benefit others.

So, how would I lead life differently, if money were no concern?

I’d live more freely.

Isn’t it interesting that the word “free” comes up in my addressing this question about wealth in the form of currency?

Having more than substantial funds would allow me the freedom I desire so strongly in life.

The freedom to:

live life on my own terms without any financial constraints

expand on my business, which I feel so passionate about

hire a kick-ass team & guest contributors

take care of myself

supply for my family

give back to others in all the ways I dream of

contribute more time & money to an organization I feel passionate about

travel

host conferences and workshops to help female creatives achieve the success they desire & create the support they need

get my message & mission across to a much wider audience (global even)

create a life that I  love with less weight on my shoulders

provide for my future & invest in the future of others

etc, etc, etc

Overall, I think I’d feel free to take more risks in life and become the leader I know exists within me.

It’s become very clear to me how important it is that I work on these self-limiting beliefs because this isn’t only about me.

Achieving wealth in currency is equally, if not more, about giving back, investing in others, doing what it is that I can to make this world a better, safer, kinder, more positive, supportive place.

At least it is for me.

I’m so ready to heal these money wounds & embrace my worthiness of abundance in all forms.┬á

Now, it’s time to flip the switch!

  • If money were no concern for me I would definitely experience more of the world with my husband through travel! I would give back (more) to the things that made a huge difference in my life, like the Alumnae Scholarship Housing program which allowed me to afford my undergrad education. And if I’m being honest with myself I would quit my secure office job and transform my digital marketing freelancing into a full-time business. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and making me really think about this question čÖé

  • If money were no concern I would take a year off and travel! I would learn to code and give my website a facelift that I design, I would take photography classes, start my own fashion line, learn another language, etc! I wouldn’t stop learning and taking advantage of the knowledge out there!
