Lauren Moffat Swing Midi Dress, Swedish Hasbeens T-strap Shoes, Nani’s Opal Ring, Parasol from Italy. Dedicated to my incredible grandmother, Nani, who recently passed away.

She absolutely was a force to be reckoned with. The toughest, strongest woman I’ve ever known who took care of so many, there is no way to even grasp the number of those she blessed with her unconditional love, kindness & generosity. She raised me, my sisters, my nephews, niece, cousins & took care of a few neighborhood kids throughout my upbringing. She was the definition of a “hustler” (in the most respectful sense). She did whatever she had to do to make sure she could provide for us and she did it all on her own. She was extremely independent.

This amazing woman taught me the importance of taking great care of myself. I’m pretty sure she was putting chicken stock in my “special made” vegetarian dishes, always bugged me about taking my vitamins & made sure I always washed my hands before eating.

Three days before she passed, I received this Opal ring (her birthstone) from her in which she wanted me to have and its become my most prized possession. I hope that it will be passed down throughout my family time & time again. A very special family heirloom, which I hold near & dear to my heart.

My amazing boyfriend bought me this gorgeous Lauren Moffatt Dress to wear to my grandmother’s funeral, as she requested no one wear black (she didn’t want us to mourn her death, but celebrate her life! That’s my grandma for ya…) from Cloak & Dagger Brooklyn & this beautiful eyelet parasol was something I gifted to her when I went to Italy a few years back.

All in all, this entire outfit has so much meaning to me as each piece has a very special memory. I’m thankful for the fact that I’ve had as much time as I’ve had with her & that I was and still am so close to her. She will always have a special place in my heart.

I love & miss you so much, Nani
